Last words on the Space Shuttle Columbia

"Today was the first day that I felt that I am truly living in space. I have become a man who lives and works in space.”

This is the last thing Ilan Ramon, the first Israeli in space, wrote in the diary that he kept aboard the space shuttle Columbia. He died when the space craft broke apart during re-entry February 1, 2003. Somehow the diary miraculously survived the incident.
